READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! They are thorough and clear, and definitely improved my results. My Asian knives took quite a few passes, maybe 20, before they developed the “burr” on the edge, but once I achieved that, getting a much-better-than-factory edge was very easy. The first time I used my chef’s knife, the blade cut right through the lime and kinda stuck in the bamboo cutting board. VERY SHARP. I’m delighted! And I regret not buying this sharpener three years ago when I first learned about it. I’d give 6 stars if I could!

My old knife sharpener was one of those manual ones that gives you major goosebumps when you run your blade through it. It destroyed all my knives, so I was on the hunt for something better, especially since I finally invested in proper knives and want them to last (I do a lot of cooking!) Of course I googled "America's Test kitchen Knife Sharpeners" to see if they had any segments on the topic, and of course they did! ATK never disappoints with their reviews. This sharpener is definitely pricey, but it'll last for years and so will my knives! It's super easy to use and fool-proof. You can't ruin your knives if you try! Highly recommend!

Ordered this electric sharpener hoping it would restore our old cutlery to like new condition saving us the expense of having to purchase new cutlery. This knife sharpener worked as advertised ! It takes patience as I sharpened around 20 knives in about two hours. Extremely pleased with results, did not realize just how dull they had become until I finished the job . Good value for the money.

There is just something special about a sharp knife. I do a fair amount of cooking; in addition to that, I have a one-track mind. We have had our newest knife set for about two years (Henckels). These things were "decent" at best. I use my knives to cut everything from Tomatoes to Meat, and to be fair, I also use standards as a common screwdriver when I don't feel like running to the garage; I am hard on them. When I purchased this, the last set was pretty sharp out of the box, although I don't think they would slice through a sheet of paper.
